What is the Waterbury Neighborhood Council?

It is the belief of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council that active citizen participation and involvement in city government and the issues that affect the quality of life in Waterbury is an essential step in the preservation of our neighborhoods and the revitalization of Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Council strives to encourage citizen involvement in both neighborhood and city issues, to strengthen existing neighborhood organizations, and to foster the creation of new ones.

    The first step to Waterbury's success is our cleanliness!

    8:30 - Meet at Sears Automotive parking lot on Union St.

    • Get bags, gloves, Crystal Rock water, and a ticket for a hot dog lunch at the Police Activity League (PAL) on 64 Division St.
    9:00-12:00 - Pick up Litter!

    12:00 - Meet at PAL Headquarters on 64 Division St. for lunch

    Thanks to PAL, Sgt. Ryan Bessette, Cpt. Daniel Lauer, David Simpson (Director of Public Works), Bart Startup (Refuse Dept.), Crystal Rock, Northeast Transportation, Brass Mill Center Management, WATR, The Republican American, The Waterbury Observer, and Dunkin' Donuts!

    The Earth Day Cleanup is presented by Mayor Neil O'Leary and your Litter Control and Beautification Commissioners.

    On Novenber 2nd, the Waterbury Neighborhood Council is hosting its 18th Annual Awards Dinner at La Bella Vista, 380 Farmwood Road in Waterbury.The Council, in its 23rd year of operations is awarding seven local residents for their outstanding efforts helping Waterbury neighborhoods and their residents.

    In addition to the individual neighborhood awards, the Council is recognizing seven individuals for their outstanding efforts to help improve the Waterbury community in general. This year’s city awardees are:

    •    Fred Schnaars, retiring owner from the Town Plot IGA
    •     John Murray for his work on “The Gathering”
    •      Jeffrey Hunter of J&J Inc.
    •      Don Cullen from McDermit Performance Solutions
    •       Sarah Carabetta from 4 Act Ministry, Inc.
    •       Nancy & Joel Becker from the Torrington Supply Company
    •       Jon Schultz, President of the Waterbury Firefighters Association

    The Waterbury Neighborhood Council has published its new website as part of an effort to maximize the use of technology in its mission of community outreach and support for the city residents and the neighborhood groups within the city of Waterbury.

    The Council has also added state of the art Association Management Software to better service its members. The program provides Event Registration with online payments, integrates with Social Media, creates Email Marketing Campaigns, and makes administering the Council's membership and daily activities easier.
